Description
A. O. Smith Canada’s ProLine XE Heat Pump series includes HPTU-50N, HPTU-66N and HPTU-80N models with nominal capacities of 50, 66 and 80 US gallons. The Canadian specification sheet lists a hybrid-mode UEF of 3.45 for each model.
An integrated heat pump absorbs ambient heat to warm the water, supported by backup electric heating elements. Users can choose Efficiency, Hybrid, Electric or Vacation operation.

Efficiency mode uses the heat pump only; Hybrid switches between heat pump and electric elements; Electric and Vacation modes are also available.
Electronic controls
The interface controls temperature and operating mode, displays diagnostics and saves the last four error messages.
Tank and element protection
CoreGard anode rods protect the tank, with dual anodes on the 66 and 80 USG models. Dry-fire protection checks that the tank is full during startup.
Installation requirements
Requires condensate drainage and a 30 A power supply. Optional air duct kits permit installation in confined spaces.
