Heat Pumps in Ottawa
Ottawa's cold winters demand careful sizing at local design temperatures and a clear backup heat strategy.
Why Ottawa homeowners consider it
Ice storms and windstorms have caused significant outages in the region, so many homeowners value battery backup. Rural parts of the city are often on Hydro One rather than Hydro Ottawa.
Local home types
- Post-war bungalows in Alta Vista and Westboro
- 1980s–2000s two-storeys in Kanata, Orléans and Barrhaven
